CBS STUDENTS IS LOOKING FOR SKILLED AND COMMITTED BOARD MEMBERS WHO ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT CBS AND ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT TO JOIN OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Are you interested in putting theory into practice by working with the strategic development of an organization on the Board level? CBS Students is looking to appoint new members to our Board of Directors. This is a remarkable opportunity to gain practical experience with leadership and strategic development in a serious organization while building a fantastic network of talented students and professionals.

POSITION

As a Member of the Board you will be fiscally and legally responsible for the work of CBS Students. You will participate with other members of the Board in Board meetings with a vote power. You will become part of the Board of Directors and thus responsible (together with the rest of the Board) for the strategic standpoint of CBS Students and organizational development of the organization. You will be involved in determining the strategy of the organization along with other natural tasks for a Board, such as financial management and control of the budget, overseeing the operations of the executive team and ensuring that the organization moves towards its strategic goals. CBS Students also owns two daughter companies, which the Board, as the highest organ in the organization, looks after. The Board has meetings each semester and its members also engage in working groups within specific topics that arise throughout the year, it is required to participate in at least one throughout the year if it is possible (amount of the groups depends on the year). 

YOUR PROFILE

From a potential candidate, we expect you to:

  • Have a sincere wish to make a positive difference for the students

  • Understand the boards stewardship role to ensure that CBS Students is governed appropriately

  • Be opinionated on ethical, strategical, financial and student matters and comfortably present and argue your opinions, whilst ensuring representation of the students at CBS

  • Provide constructive challenge and support for the management team of CBS Students

  • Have a strong commitment and sense of ownership over the strategic direction and success of CBS Students

  • Thorough understanding of the student environment at CBS

  • Have knowledge of managing financial operations 

  • Commit time to understand the political landscape of CBS and obtain deep organizational knowledge of CBS Students.

You must be a student at Copenhagen Business School.
Candidates of all ages, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, religions etc. will be considered.

ORGANIZATION

CBS Students is the student union at Copenhagen Business School, representing and working for more than 20.000 students across all study programmes and interests. CBS Students is politically independent, works on a non-profit basis and is financed by CBS and sponsorships from external partners. The objective of the organization is to make CBS a better university, both academically and socially. CBS Students facilitates the work of more than 100 student organizations, each of which works for a specific area of interest. The organization also arranges the university election and facilitates the work of more than 80 student representatives. Furthermore, CBS Students runs the two facilities; Cafeerne ApS and CBS Collection ApS, to improve the student environment.

How to APPLy?

Send a motivation letter no longer than 500 words and a photo of yourself to the Chair of the Board, Frederik Winther Damsgaard, on e-mail chairmanship@cbsstudents.dk. The application deadline is 13th November 2022.

The applications will be processed and posted on the official event for the General Assembly at CBS Students, alongside the photo of the candidate. The election will take place during the event, which is on the 27th November 2023.

If there are fewer candidates than seats, all candidates that applied within the deadline will be elected during the General Assembly after delivering a short speech. There will be a chance to run during the event if all the seats have not been filled. If there are more candidates than seats, the candidates will have to deliver a speech and there will be a competitive election during the General Assembly. 

We expect all candidates to be present on the 27th November 2023 at the General Assembly.
