SO WHAT IS INTRO?

Simply put, intro will introduce you to life at CBS. You'll hear about the academic aspects of your program, potentially hearing from some of your future lecturers. You'll also get a tour of the university and learn about the library, Student Hub and other facilities. And finally, you'll spend time with all of your new classmates and get to know each other.

Each intro program is different, so we can't tell you specifically what your program will be like, but overall, your tutors will make sure that you get off on the right foot when starting at CBS!

WELCOME FROM THE PRESIDENCY

Dear students,

We want to welcome you to Copenhagen Business School. The years to come will be the best and most exciting of your life. CBS is an incredible institution, where you will be surrounded by amazing people and great academic staff. However, the campus is big and can be overwhelming, especially in the beginning of your studies. And since all of us were once first year students, we want to help you make your transition into university life as smooth as possible!

All of us at CBS Students are working day in and day out to make CBS the best place for it’s students, focusing on all aspects of university life: academic and social. To achieve this we are actively involved in almost everything at CBS- we are organizing your intro period, we own the student bar: Cafe Nexus, the canteen: Spisestuerne, as well as the CBS Collection, providing you with swag since 2015.

We also have student representatives sitting in the decision making organs at CBS. Here students interact and communicate with top management of our school, ensuring that the student voice is heard and that we get the education we wish for.

Needless to say, your time at Copenhagen Business School will be a crazy ride with a lot of ups and downs, but you can be sure you will have an amazing time! During the coming years you will develop personally, broaden your horizons and create life long friendships. Not to mention, you will get a degree from one of the best business schools in the world.

With more than 21.000 students and around 100 student organizations there is always something to do and plenty of opportunities to become engaged with activities at school. Make sure to enjoy the following weeks during your intro period and don’t miss out on the semester start party on the 6th of September at Café Nexus!

We look forward to seeing you at CBS. Once again, welcome, and make sure to get the best out of all the possibilities you have during your time here!

When is the first day of school?

After the intro period, the first official day of school is Responsibility Day. Responsibility Day takes place on Monday September 3rd and begins at 9:30 at Tivoli Congress Center. Here, you’ll meet the top management at CBS, hear from great speakers such as Margrethe Vestager, and be introduced to a case about responsibility in business that you can work on with your new classmates.

What housing options do I have in Copenhagen?

It is no secret that the housing market in Copenhagen is not easy, but you do have several options. You can rent apartments – websites like www.boligportal.dk can be helpful, and there are hundreds of Facebook groups where rooms are posted. If you’re looking for a room, www.findroommate.dk can also be great. Lastly, Copenhagen has a lot of different dorms that are also great options (e.g. www.kollegiernerskontor.dk).

Always be aware of scams – if it looks too good to be true, it probably is. Rooms in Copenhagen can range from 3000-6000DKK (and upwards). Make sure to read up on common housing scams and do not transfer money to anyone before ensuring that they’re legitimate.

Do I have free time during intro?

Your tutors will give you a full program for the intro period where you can see everything they have planned (possibly including optional activities in the afternoon and evening).

What do I do if I'm late for intro?

Inform your tutors if you are not able to be there for the entire intro period and they will make sure that you get any information you might miss.

What is the dress code at CBS?

There is no dress code at CBS! You can wear whatever you feel most comfortable in – whether that’s a suit or jeans and a t-shirt.

How do I register for classes?

You don’t. Registration for classes happens automatically when you are registered for your program so you do not have to worry about that.

Where can I buy books?

You can find out what books you need at www.academicbooks.dk. You can also buy the books at Academic Books (they have a store at Solbjerg Plads) or you can talk to previous students from your program and buy second-hand books.

How do I get around Copenhagen?

Copenhagen is known for all its bikes and it is a great and easy way to get around! You have the option of buying or renting a bike, or getting a subscription for city bikes that are parked around Copenhagen. If you’re not up for biking, all the CBS campuses are placed near metro stations and are really easy to get to. Lastly you can always use the bus, the 9A stops right in front of Solbjerg Plads.
